This docudrama, which is a bringing together of acting and interviews, paints a portrait of both Rudi Dutschke, the person and the revolutionary, and a picture of a generation and their utopias and disappointments. The television film, which is set in 1964, follows decisive stages of the life of Rudi Dutschke and shows the times in which Dutschke rose to become a central figure of the student movements of 68, becoming their voice to the masses in 1967 and 68, till an assassination attempt rips him from political and public life in April 1968. The phase of exile which then began up to the first public appearances of the 1970s are also part of the story.
